“When I come to REUK, it is like my stress is lifted from me. Normally, when I am by myself it is too much and I feel tension all the time. Talking to you every week makes me feel better and less tension. When you tell me you are proud of me, I really think about it and it makes me happy. Really, last year I am not sure how I would have survived. It was you being with me and helping me that made it different.”

Standing alongside, advocating for, and building the resilience of young people in really challenging situations can make all the difference. If you would like to refer a young person for wellbeing and casework support with REUK, please fill in the referral form.

"I'm so pleased at the incredible progress Daryan has made and want to thank you hugely for your part in this... As well as his increase in activities, particularly college, I've been most struck by his enhanced capacity to manage and reflect on his emotions and to remain calm in times of stress."

We tackle the foundational barriers that prevent young refugees and asylum seekers from accessing and thriving in education.

Working closely with specialists across both NHS and third sectors, this programme is recognised for providing thorough and sensitive mental health support to survivors of trauma and those experiencing complex mental health conditions.

REUK's grassroots psychosocial interventions complement and add value to statutory and voluntary sector mental health provision.

The impact of trauma, particularly in uncertain and sometimes unstable contexts, leaves many stuck in 'survival mode' and unable to engage in learning. In the face of growing mental health challenges we promote and resource young refugees' resilience and wellbeing.

Mental health and wellbeing challenges are one of the biggest obstacles to improved educational outcomes for young refugees.

REUK provides intensive bespoke casework to those young refugees facing complex issues and acute needs.

Mental health challenges are compounded by significant practical issues. Our team works with young people to dismantle seemingly insurmountable barriers to educational progression, such as homelessness, protracted immigration processes and risk of exploitation.

Young refugees and asylum seekers are enabled to access and participate in education.

Young people's resilience and wellbeing improves as they learn how to manage their mental health.

Other professionals are upskilled to promote young people's educational wellbeing.

By safeguarding and walking alongside some 70 individuals each year through regular, holistic casework, we enable excluded young people to re-engage with learning opportunities.

Our 1:1 sessions and group workshops equip young refugees with age- and experience- appropriate stress management and sleep hygiene tools that work for them.

We train our volunteers and other professionals in mental health first aid to extend the reach and impact of our effective grassroots wellbeing interventions.
